Most modern philosophers who are in the Anglo-American tradition, and many who are in the Continental tradition, would ask you, in response to your question, at least two others:
1.) What is it that makes you think life either has a purpose or needs one?
2.) If you could state a purpose for life, and it was imposed from above, would that not compromise your freedom? If it were not imposed from above, you make a set of choices of goals, none of which, with near certainty, would be your life's sole purpose. (The point is that there is nothing that says that there can be only one purpose to a life.
Ponder these two questions, and I think you will abandon any worries about finding the purpose of life.
